Cancelled: 2020 Community Thanksgiving Dinner

After much consideration, we unfortunately have to announce the cancellation of this year’s Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner.

For the past several years, members of our Church and the Greene County community have joined forces to produce as many as 1,500 free, home-cooked Thanksgiving meals for our local residents.

Due to health concerns associated with COVID-19, we feel that for the safety of our community it’s best we cancel the large format Thanksgiving dinner.

Stay tuned for announcements on how you can continue to serve God and our community through other projects.

Keep praying… keep loving God… keep loving people…and keep sharing Jesus!

Embassy Men Returns

Embassy Men meetings equip men to practically apply the tenets of our scripture-based mission statement.

Teaching and application opportunities will focus on our role as Christ’s Ambassadors in our families, community, nation, and world. Topics are specifically designed to equip MEN, and meetings will include opportunities for men to be Christ’s hands and feet by engaging in mission opportunities.

Meetings are on Sundays from 6:45-8:00 pm in the Sanctuary.

Lifetouch Pictures-Postponed

Updated: Message from Lifetouch-

As you know, our team was so excited to return to churches and begin photographing congregations again.

Unfortunately, however, as the situation with COVID-19 continues to evolve, we have determined that it’s in the best interest of our business and our teams to put all Lifetouch Church Photography programs on hold for the time being.

I apologize, but this means that we will have to postpone your photography program.

We’re not sure when we will be able to resume photography programs – but photographing your congregation is really important to us.

When our staff returns to work and we reopen our church photography programs, we’ll be in touch with you directly to get your church back on our schedule – and the photography program back on your church’s schedule – as quickly as possible.

Stay safe and Be well.

Online Prayer Meeting – Wednesday, August 11th

Thanks for joining us tonight! Welcome to Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting.
Jim Stahl will be hosting the live prayer meeting this week.

In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.
Hebrews 1:1-4 | NIV |

The live video will be posted below at 5:50pm. You can also visit our Facebook page to access the live prayer meeting.

A reminder from Archie regarding Sunday services

Quick Reminder: We're Open!

Don't forget, LFCC has opened for Sunday Services! We have added new procedures to ensure that everyone is staying safe and healthy. View the new procedures and protocols here:http://www.peopletogod.com/lfcc-will-reopen-on-may-10th-new-procedures-for-sunday-worship/

LFCC is now open! New procedures for Sunday worship

Linton First Christian Church has resumed in-person Sunday services. We have added new procedures to ensure that everyone is staying safe and healthy. We ask that everyone review these new procedures if you plan on attending services. You can the new procedures and protocols below.

Click here to watch the video and read Archie’s full announcement.

New Procedures and Self-Assessment Checklist

We will have a new list of protocols and procedures to follow and we also ask all attendees to complete a self-assessment to determine if you or anyone in your family has suffered from or been exposed to any symptoms of COVID-19. You will find links to both of these documents below.

High Risk Individuals

We encourage all high risk individuals to continue worshipping at home with our online service. In addition to Facebook Live and YouTube, audio from our Sunday service will be available on a call-in line so you can listen on your telephone. Please view the resources below to determine if you or a loved one is considered high risk for COVID-19.

People with any of the listed conditions are encouraged to stay home by the CDC. That recommendation is likely to continue until a vaccine is available. The reason for this recommendation is simple: the medical outcome for “High Risk” people who contract Covid-19 is not good. In Indiana, 89% of the deaths from Covid-19 are in persons over 60. If you are over 65 and have any of the listed conditions, either stay home or call your doctor and discuss your prospects of continued good health.

Medical conditions that can make Covid-19 SEVERE

  • Asthma (moderate to severe)
  • HIV
  • Chronic Lung Disease (COPD, Emphysema, Pulmonary Fibrosis and Interstitial Lung Disease
  • Diabetes (including type 1 and type 2)
  • Serious Heart Conditions (taking blood thinners?- ask your cardiologist)
  • Chronic Kidney Disease being treated with dialysis
  • Severe Obesity (BMI 40 or over)
  • Immunocompromised (Cancer Treatment, Smokers, HIV, Immune weakening medications, organ transplants)
  • Liver Disease
  • What ever your medical condition, continue taking your medications and follow the advice of your healthcare providers.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the information on this page, please call the church office at 812-847-9535 or contact us by email.

We look forward to worshipping with you on Sunday both in-person and online!

A note from Archie regarding reopening plans for LFCC

Linton First Christian Church will reopen on Sunday, May 10th. Please view the announcement and note from Lead Pastor, Archie Ellett, below. We encourage you to review some resources that we’ve put together to go along with the announcement on this page. We look forward to worshipping with you online and in-person on Sunday!

Hey LFCC family,

In light of Governor Holcomb’s announcement last week on reopening churches we wanted to share with you a decision that our Church leadership has made.

On Sunday May 10th, we are going to reopen our doors. Our service will be at the usual time, 10am. We want to do this in the most responsible way possible and as part of that we will do the following to meet OR exceed all recommendations from our governor.

  • We will screen everyone who comes in the doors. We will do a non-contact temperature check as well as ask a series of questions (Screening questions are attached on the ‘Covid-19 First point of Contact Screening PDF, please help us out by prescreening yourself BEFORE you come to the church). If you have any Covid-19 symptoms… fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of smell, loss of taste OR have recently been in contact with someone with Covid-19, we ask that you stay at home and worship with us online.
  • On this first Sunday, and for several Sundays, we will have everyone together. No kids areas will be opened (that includes nursery)
  • We will keep physical distancing requirements. We will use every other row of chairs and we are asking family units to sit together and keep 3 seat minimum between family units.
  • On dismissal we are asking that you ensure distancing and not all leave at once.
  • We will ONLY use the doors into the lobby of the newer part of the building. We are going to keep the older part of the building closed off to limit the amount of sanitizing needed.
  • The hospitality area will be closed, so we will not be providing snacks, coffee, or tea.
  • We will not be handing out bulletins so if you take notes on those, you will need to bring your own paper… and Bibles too.
  • We are asking that you wear a mask for the comfort and protection of each other.
  • If you are at risk (have small children, are over 65, have a compromised immune system, OR you are in frequent contact with at risk people) we are asking that you stay home and worship with us online. (Please see the ‘Are you High Risk’ PDF if you have questions)

These are just a few of the protocols we are implementing to keep you as safe as we can. Please review the ‘Return to Service Protocol and Procedures’ PDF that we are asking you to look at and help us implement so we can all do our part in opening as safely as possible.

Know that we didn’t reach this decision lightly. We’ve spent time in prayer and much discussion. We know that there may be some mixed feelings about returning to the building… so we are also praying for unity.

Psalm 133.1 NIV says: 1 How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!

We are asking for unity between the churches and between our church family. Please treat each other with respect and love…. AND know that…Just because we are opening that doesn’t mean we have more faith than other churches that are keeping their doors closed… AND it doesn’t mean we don’t care about your health as much as other churches who remain closed.

At the end of the day, every church has to do what is right for them. Also, individually… you have to do what is right for you on coming to church OR not.

If you choose to come to the building, that doesn’t mean you are a better Christian than people who choose to stay at home. If you choose to stay at home, that doesn’t mean you care more about other’s health than those who choose to come to the building.

This isn’t the time to be critical about the decisions of churches OR individuals…It’s the time to be unified in reaching out to a hurting and questioning world with the Love of Jesus. SO… let’s NOT pressure people to come if they aren’t 100% comfortable.

Let’s NOT isolate those who need/want to worship online. AND let’s NOT condemn those who come to worship in the physical building. We are still a church family if we are physically present OR virtually present.

So let’s love each other regardless of our individual decisions and be the church! You have been doing an incredible job during this pandemic of being the church outside this building and that MUST continue. Remember the church isn’t about being in these walls… you are the church…you are the hands and feet of Jesus that need to be going and reaching out to the world in love.

I believe that God is using this pandemic to move in incredible ways… let’s not do anything to interrupt that…

We will continue to have a strong online presence

We will keep: Loving God, Loving People, and Sharing Jesus.

Keep checking on each other…

Keep inviting someone to come here to church OR to participate with you online.

AND we will continue to be a church family!

Stay safe… we love you… see you soon.

Archie

A Conversation with Tyler and Dr. Gaddis

On Thursday, April 23rd, LFCC Youth Minister, Tyler Hodson, sat down with staff counselor, Dr. Keith Gaddis, for a conversation about how we can live and grow in God’s amazing love even in the darkness and anxiety. Dr. Gaddis will be sharing his thoughts, and a couple tools in his belt for us to continue to keep our mind sharp and our Spirit fed.

We hope you enjoy the discussion! We plan to bring more videos like this to you in the future!

COVID-19 Update for 3/19/2020

Hey LFCC family,

In light of the most recent events concerning the Coronavirus and the recommendations of our government, we wanted to update you about some decisions we’ve made as a Church leadership.

We want to be responsible and do our part to try to keep people from contracting this virus. So along with prayer, we will do our part in ‘social distancing’. Starting this Sunday (March 22nd, 2020) at 10am, until the time comes where it is safe for us to meet together again, we will only be meeting online.

We are NOT canceling our services. I repeat, we are NOT canceling our service, our service will just be offered exclusively online. Our livestream will start 10 minutes prior to our service which will start at 10am. After the livestream is over, the service will be available in an archived format on our church YouTube channel and our Facebook page.

I know this is weird for many of us, but this will not stop the church. Moving online doesn’t mean that Satan has won anything. Moving online doesn’t mean we are less of a church because the church isn’t contained to a building. So, it is impossible to cancel church. You can close a building BUT we are the church and that can’t be canceled. I know this may not seem like an ideal situation, but we really believe God is going to move in amazing ways if our response to fear will be to Face Everything And Rise.
This is a unique time in the history of our world where we have an incredible opportunity to reach out and give the hope of Jesus to a world that is desperate for hope right now.

AW Tozer once wrote: A frightened world needs a fearless church. So let’s Rise and share Jesus with others.

Here are some things you can do to Rise:

  • Check on neighbors, coworkers, friends, and family… and help meet their practical needs.
  • Share Jesus with those who don’t know Jesus. Encourage those who do. We all need the hope that only Jesus can bring.Invite everyone to worship online with us.
  • Prepare communion before the service starts (cracker and juice will work). During the service we will take communion together as a family.
  • Be prepared to give. Hard times do not revoke God’s mandate to give. You can give as part of your worship online at https://pushpay.com/g/peopletogod OR on the Linton First Christian Church app for iPhone or Android OR you can mail in your offering to: Linton First Christian Church, 9878 W State Road 54, Linton, IN 47441

During the service you can interact by clicking on the comment section of YouTube or Facebook. As family, we want to know about any prayer requests you have or any decisions you make.

We are blessed to have the opportunity to livestream and stay connected to each other. But this truly is an incredible opportunity to reach those who do not normally attend church.

If you are worshipping with us online, you can find the livestream at the following links:

This WILL NOT stop what GOD is doing! Nothing will ever stop what God wants to accomplish! Any time throughout history that the church was disrupted, the church exploded in number. It started when Stephen became the 1st martyr… persecution broke out, the church spread out, and many people came to Jesus. This is our opportunity to spread out our influence and influence more people for Jesus. See, our methods have temporarily changed BUT the message NEVER WILL… and it must go out! We are the church and the church has work to do!

If you are in need OR you know someone in need we have attached a resource page to assist you, and we have people who can bring you supplies you need. You can also call the church at 812-847-9535 or email us at peopletoGod.com.

Regardless of what happens in the future we know who holds the future… so let’s keep praying… keep loving God… keep loving people… keep sharing Jesus… and be safe. We love you and will see you all soon.

LFCC Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response

Hey LFCC family,

In light of recent events concerning the Coronavirus we wanted to update you about some decisions we’ve made as a Church leadership.

Upon much prayer and deliberation, as of now, we are planning on proceeding with regularly scheduled services (including children’s programming) on Sunday, March 15th, 2020 (Sunday School at 8:30am, Sunday Gathering at 10:00am). Know that this is an ever-evolving situation and we will do our best to stay on top of it.

We are doing all we can to ensure that our facility is as safe as possible for our Church family. Counters, door handles, and other high-use items have been cleaned and disinfected numerous times.

In and effort to minimize contact, we will make the following alterations to our service:

  • Communion plates and offering bags will not be passed throughout the congregation
  • We will use only the two front entrances (SE and SW Doors under the awnings) for entry on Sunday morning.
  • Since Governor Eric Holcomb has imposed a limit on gatherings to no more than 250 people, once we reach 200 people in the main building we will begin diverting attendees to the Youth House where they may view the livestream of the service as a family.

We are taking every precaution we can to minimize risk to anyone and you can help with that. We need you to use good judgment to protect yourself and others.

  • If you are feeling sick, have a fever or a cough; we are asking you to stay home and worship together with us online.
  • If you have shortness of breath, are elderly, or have an immune system that is compromised; we are asking you to stay home and worship together with us online.
  • If you feel as if you may have been exposed to the Coronavirus, we are asking you to stay home and worship together with us online.

Please do not feel bad if you feel that you need to stay home. We want to be as safe as possible so we are asking everyone to err on the side of caution and worship with us online if you are the least bit uncertain.

If you are worshipping with us online, you can find the livestream at the following link – http://www.peopletogod.com/lfcc-livestream/ or visit the LFCC YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgDXA2dRMny6yyHjw22Umsg

Also, if you are worshipping online we encourage you to prepare communion and partake with us as a family during the service and don’t forget that you can give as part of your worship online at https://pushpay.com/g/peopletogod OR on the Linton First Christian Church app for iPhone or Android.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We are trying to figure this out like everyone else, so please be flexible, be faithful, and stay tuned as things can change very quickly.

Don’t forget to be in prayer. Peter said in 1 Peter 3.12 12 The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right, and his ears are open to their prayers.

God is hearing our prayers so please keep them coming.

God has been moving in mighty ways and we believe He will continue to move in mighty ways… This WILL NOT stop what HE is doing. Nothing will ever stop what God wants to accomplish! Our methods might have to change BUT the message NEVER WILL… and it must go out!

We trust God will protect us as His children BUT we will take every precaution we need to take.

Keep praying… love God… love people… share Jesus and be safe. We love you and will see you all soon.

Forget the Frock 2020

Easter is quickly approaching and once again, we would like for you to consider joining us as we “Forget the Frock”.

For the past few years, LFCC has participated in Forget the Frock. This is a movement started by a woman, Emily Fox, who loves Jesus and answered His call to do SOMETHING. That something was the decision to forgo all the frilly frock (dresses, suits, ties) that accompanied Easter attire and purchase a t-shirt that actually served a PURPOSE! This year we have chosen Open Arms Ministries as our ministry with a purpose! If you would like to participate by ordering a shirt, please click HERE to fill out the form or contact Michelle Ellett for more information. Shirts are $20 each. All orders must be received by March 16, 2020. Thanks for supporting a great ministry!!

Prayer Room Sign Ups

Here at LFCC, prayer is at the center of all that we do. We would love for you to sign up to pray during our service in one of our prayer rooms. To sign up, click here.
